Dry Needling

Dry needling is a targeted technique that uses very fine needles to address muscular trigger points—tight, sensitive areas that can contribute to local discomfort or referred pain. It’s often chosen to reduce muscle tension and support recovery.

About Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique that uses very fine, sterile needles to target trigger points: tight, tender areas within a muscle that can cause local discomfort or pain felt elsewhere. We use it as part of a wider manual therapy treatment rather than on its own.

The needles are much thinner than those used for injections, and nothing is injected. Your practitioner assesses you first, explains the technique and only uses dry needling if it is suitable and you are comfortable with it. It is often combined with soft tissue work, stretching and exercise advice.

Πώς λειτουργεί

We assess your symptoms and movement, identify trigger points and check your medical history before recommending dry needling.

Fine needles are placed into specific points for a short time. You may feel a brief twitch or ache in the muscle, which is normal.

We advise on hydration, movement and what to expect, and combine needling with other techniques where helpful.

Who is it for?

  • People with muscle tightness or trigger points
  • Anyone with recurring muscular tension
  • Active people and desk workers alike
  • Adults aged 18 and over in good general health
  • Anyone comfortable with fine needles

We always ask before using needles, and we can use other techniques if you prefer.

Most people feel very little from the needle itself. You may feel a brief twitch or a deep ache as the muscle responds, which settles quickly.

No. Both use fine needles, but dry needling is based on anatomy and the assessment of muscle trigger points rather than traditional Chinese medicine.

Mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours is common, similar to after exercise. Gentle movement and hydration help.

It depends on the area and how you respond. We usually review your progress after the first one or two sessions.

When performed by a trained practitioner using sterile, single-use needles, dry needling is generally safe. We check your history for anything that means it is not suitable.

We usually combine it with hands-on techniques and exercise advice as part of a wider plan.
